Ashley Down Primary School

Ashley Down PSA

What is the PSA?

The PSA stands for Parent Staff Association, which is a voluntary organisation of parents/carers and teachers. The main aim of Ashley Down's PSA is to create and maintain a sense of community between families and staff which supports the school as a whole. The PSA are also keen to raise additional funds for the school in order to promote and enrich the fantastic teaching and learning environment which already exists at Ashley Down Primary.

What does the PSA do?

The PSA organises numerous social events throughout the year, which are a great opportunity to get together and have fun, whilst raising a significant amount of money for the school. Events include the Christmas and summer fairs, quiz nights and school discos. Money raised is spent on projects and resources to benefit pupils across the school. Funds are allocated by the PSA following the submission of a bid form to request money; all bids are considered on their own merits.

Who are the PSA?

All parents and teachers are automatically members of the PSA. There is a central committee who plan and co-ordinate events and fundraising activities and we are always keen to welcome more key members. Each year group has class representatives who facilitate the link between parents and school, and vice versa.

How can I help?

The PSA are reliant on a network of supportive parents and teachers. We understand that everyone is busy and spare time is at a premium. We also understand that parents and carers typically want the best for their children, which includes a good education. The PSA provides a fantastic opportunity for parents/ carers to make a tangible contribution towards their child's schooling in whatever way that may be.

Our hope is that everyone involved in the PSA feels valued, has fun and makes friends whilst working together to support the school in educating not only their own child but all Ashley Down pupils.

Joint PSA Celebration with Ashley Down and Brunel Field Primary Schools

In February 2026, Mrs Sood and the Year 6 School Council visited the executive suite in the Cricket Pavilion, where representatives from Gloucestershire County Cricket Ground presented us with a cheque representing the money raised at this year’s Fireworks Display. This event is a joint venture between the PSA of both Ashley Down Primary School and Brunel Field Primary School, and we are absolutely thrilled by the incredible amount raised.

Children from both schools, the headteachers, and representatives from each PSA committee came together for the presentation, making it a special moment that truly reflected the partnership behind the event. We were overjoyed to receive a total of £7,004.28, which will be shared between both schools.

Adding to the excitement, the children were also treated to a surprise visit from Alfie, the Gloucestershire County Cricket Club mascot. Alfie brought huge smiles and laughter to the room, helping to make the celebration even more memorable and enjoyable for everyone involved.

This generous total reflects the community spirit that surrounds our schools. The funds will make a real difference for our pupils and will support opportunities that enrich their learning and bring genuine joy to their school experience.

We are especially grateful to the PSAs from both schools and to Gloucestershire County Cricket Ground for working together so effectively. Their shared commitment strengthens our federation and our wider community.
